Welcome from Dr. Amalia Geller

It is with great pleasure and honor that I offer my services to the Boise, Idaho community—supporting both adults and children who experience sleep disorders, particularly those affected by underlying neurological conditions.

Few providers in the Boise area specialize in sleep medicine with a dedicated focus on neurological health. Patients living with neurological conditions are especially vulnerable to sleep disturbances, which must be addressed through an integrative and holistic approach.

My Background

My journey in the medical field began at the age of 18 as a respiratory therapist. I later became a pharmacist and eventually fulfilled my calling as a physician. Since 2003, I have practiced in both academic settings and private practice.

I am trained in both adult and pediatric neurology, with additional board-certified specialty training in:

  • Sleep Medicine
  • Neurophysiology & Epilepsy
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Our Focus

My clinical focus is to diagnose and treat sleep disorders in individuals with complex neurological conditions. These include—but are not limited to:

  • Children with developmental delays, autism, behavioral challenges, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and traumatic brain injury
  • Adults with Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, epilepsy, and Alzheimer’s disease

Pediatric Sleep Disorders

Children with neurological disorders often suffer from:

  • Insomnia
  • Nightmares
  • Night terrors

In children with epilepsy, poor sleep can lower the seizure threshold. Children diagnosed with ADD or ADHD may experience restless leg syndrome or frequent nighttime movements, which can worsen daytime behavior and mimic symptoms of inattentiveness.

A Multidisciplinary Approach

My practice is uniquely collaborative. We utilize a team-based, multidisciplinary approach that may include:

  • Board-certified sleep dentists
  • Oral myofunctional therapists
  • Physical therapists
  • Speech-language pathologists
  • Orthodontists
  • Chiropractic care (when appropriate)

A particular area of focus is the identification and management of malocclusion and upper airway resistance, which can significantly contribute to sleep disturbances.

Neurological Sleep Disorders in Adults

Adults with neurological conditions frequently experience disrupted sleep, which can exacerbate their underlying disease. For example:

  • REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) may present as dream enactment and can be an early warning sign of Parkinson’s disease.
  • Individuals with multiple sclerosis or stroke often face insomnia and circadian rhythm disorders, which can worsen depression and overall neurological function.

Let’s Work Together

Thank you for considering our clinic for your care. We believe in partnering with you and your family, using a team-based approach to achieve long-term improvements in sleep and neurological health.

Together, we can improve your sleep—and your life.
